| The X-KOi
2008
The word koi is
not Japanese, but rather Chinese. Japanese call
the fish Nishikigo (coloured koi). The
fish are regarded as symbols of strength, good
luck and prosperity in Asian Cultures. Due to the
large numbers of colour variations, koi are
sometimes thought to be different species, yet
all are Cyprinus carpio, a member of the
carp family. |

The X-Koi was an idea
to compliment the existing WiND-X Kites and also to
reward our clients with the best available technology in
kiteboarding. To achieve this, we have partnered one of
the best board manufacturers and market leaders in
kiteboard technology. By doing so, WIND-X's R&D team
will be able to spend more time on developing kites.
There is no point in being a "Jack of all trades but
master of none...". We also
don't see a
point of reinventing the wheel.
The 2008 X-Koi line-up
includes seven sizes which are:
124x37cm
128x38cm
132x39cm
135x41cm
138x44cm (light wind performance)
144x46cm (light wind performance)
148x43cm
The sizes up to 135 and the 148 feature a new quad
concave bottom shape.
The 138 and 144 are single concave bottom shape designs
with extra width and flat rocker to get the best light
wind performance out of boards that are easy to travel
with.
All boards have thinner
tapered rails, a new tip shape and a more complex but
still very smooth deck shape with moulded grab rails.
For 2008 we retain the proven construction including the
Paulownia wood core, which made our previous boards the
strongest we have ever built to suit even the most
hardcore riding style. In addition it provides a very
smooth ride and ultimate pop. Apart from these
performance features it is better for the environment
which is essential for our sport.
Almost everything else is new for 2008. |

|
The rocker lines and basic
outlines have been refined and when upgrading from 2007
models to the new 2008 X-Koi you will feel comfortable
straight away.
Performance advantages of the new bottom shapes combined
with the balanced overall design and construction
characteristics are more grip, better edging, very
powerful pop and jumping, more control when landing
powered jumps flat with a lot of speed, better powered
and controlled carving and no spray in the face.
The X-Koi construction combines an Asian hardwood (Paulownia)
core with a durable PBT top and base sheets, tapered ABS
rails, stylish sublimated graphics and stainless steel
inserts. Tailored thickness flow and flex patterns
create the comfortable ride the X-Koi series is known
for without compromising a wide powerful outline curve
that provides great pop and upwind performance and makes
landing tricks almost too easy.
Unidirectional Carbon
reinforced laminates provide the optimal balance between
strength, weight, flex and twist control.
Rails at the tips feature a thinner, harder edge to
provide tracking stability and a solid edge hold through
carves.
X-Koi Boards are supplied standard with:
Integrated stainless steel inserts (specific sizes incl.
wake-inserts)
Adjustable footstraps
Removable screw down contoured footpads
50mm G10 fins
Stainless steel hardware
Grab handle
